Class work

Paper details Before or after working through Kant’s text, I suggest you watch the following video lecture on Kant. In it, I try to crystalize the main points of Kant’s theory.

Thenbegin your preparation for the class discussion by listening to an experiment that investigates a scientific question: what brain functions are involved in moral decisions? What might science perhaps tell us about moral decision of animals and human beings?

Your task for the class discussion is to critically discuss the third exemplary case in the Morality Episode on RadioLab as a moral choice (the mother who has to decide whether she kills her own child to save the villagers from being killed). Does the mother who sacrifices her child act according to the moral law as defined by Kant? Please develop your argument. Please lean on the discussion in the lecture to help you answer this question.

my Topic is Marriage Equality and I am considering the sides 1) In favor of gay parents and 2) opposed for gay parents. In order for me to demonstrate one of my opposing view on my essay I will use a news story by nbcnews written by Pete Williams where they talk about how the Supreme Court is in favor on of Catholic charity that wouldn’t. allow same-sex parents”. How can Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave” and Descartes’ Meditations be used to help us know what is true from what is false and what is real from what is not real? Consider how they define enlightenment, ignorance, knowledge, certainty, and God. You don’t have to discuss all of these concepts. These are just some ideas.
