Critical Race Theory

Paper details Part 1:For this assignment, you should first define critical race theory in 2-5 sentences. Include relevant citations.

Part 2:For this part of the assignment, you will be presenting material we learned this week to an imaginary group of K-12 students. From this week’s materials on racial stratification, you should choose at least two takeaways central to processes of racial stratification that you believe are important for students to know. You will choose a grade level: Elementary school (Kindergarten-4th grade), Middle School (5th-8th grade), High School (9th-12th grade). Then, choose a way to explain your selected takeaways to students in one of these grade levels. You may write out your explanations of the takeaways in terms that would be understandable to the students, or you can be creative. For example, you can make a graphic, illustration, comic, video, or short podcast. Identify whether these mechanisms are examples of opportunity hoarding or exploitation.

FINDINGS PART 2 (2-4 paragraphs)Describe the outcomes in inequality that result from the mechanisms you have identified. You should present evidence that reflects how these systems create or reinforce inequality. Connect your findings to course concepts.

CONCLUSION (1 paragraph)Summarize the findings and describe the implications of your findings on inequality and mobility.
