Wise employers know that keeping quality employees requires providing the proper compensation and benefits package. Compensation includes wages, salaries, bonuses, and commission structures. Employers

Compensation includes wages, salaries, bonuses, and commission structures. Employers shouldn’t ignore the benefits portion of employee compensation and benefits because the benefits sweeten employment contracts with the priorities that most employees need(Leonard, 2019).Properly compensating employees shows that they are valued as workers and as humans. When employees feel valued, they feel seen as a person and feel better about coming to work.Overall, company morale increases, and people are motivated to work and do a good job. Additionally, when employees know there are bonuses or commissions, they are increasingly motivated to deliver grander results. Bonus and commission compensation plans become a focal point for success(Leonard, 2019).

Moises, yes, I agree employers that value retaining and attracting good employees seek to have a competitive compensation package in an effort to stand apart from the rest. Throughout my working career I’ve become more concerned with the overall compensation package as opposed to just the salary. In order for me to be on board with a company I compare all incentives provided by the company to be sure it will benefit me for longevity. Companies must be competitive with their compensation package in order to compete with other companies and fulfill job seekers needs (Wilke, 2019).

Compensation is something that will determine a whole lot and see how well this will work out for each individual and see how much time and dedication it will need when it comes to everyone. Compensation will vary from person to person and employer to employer. The difference in it all will help them to learn how each process and see how much they will need and what they will take into considerations when they work with different people. According to Leonard, 2019 compensation includes wages, salaries, bonuses and commission structures. These different ones are the ones that will help motivate and employee to work and enjoy those different compensations. The more they work the more they will begin to enjoy and see how well these works for them and more. It is something that will also determine how much time and effort is put into all of this and give people something to enjoy as they do continue to work within that organization and more. Compensation will often be determined by the employee base salary and what they will need additional added to it and more. It is good to work with this and see what else will be needed when it comes to them and working on those different situations as it relate to an organization.

You made some great points on what a compensation package should include. I would like to add to your list. Since Covid, a perk we have added at work is that we have allowed employees to work from home one day out of the week. We did this because some of our employees have children who are only going to school half day so we wanted them to have an extra day where they could be at home with their kids. Thanks for your post!

She had a short-term to start school and she has finally signed up for a class. She is a shy person but through our talks and a recent lunch date, we were able to connect on a different level and talk about personal strides. I realized that taking our conversations outside of the uniform allowed her to be more talkative. Another short-term goal was to start her weight loss journey and through this, we have both benefited through the fitness program she initiated within our command along with several other Sailors. The positive impact on the mentee’s professional development is explicit, whether it is guidance in getting Chartered, help with stepping into a new role, or identifying and acquiring new skills(Cleaver, 2016). Through this journey, I have learned the value and the importance of my role as a mentor because of the greater impact. My mentor feels that she is becoming a better person and understands that we are in this as a team. I feel that mentorship does not stop when the goals are met because a relationship has been formed.

I totally agree with your statement and would like to add that strategies or changing the direction of your plan provide better results for the mentee and the mentee performance as mentee can rectify their mistakes during the process and can also work hard to cope with new strategies and direction. it can also gather more information and enhance his knowledge, also change in direction and strategies allow mentee to adjust themself and work in all types of environments. they can learn to adjust according to an environment which in turn can increase their performance (Hart,2013).
When new strategies are added to the plan it can provide better changes in the performance of the mentee. Then changes imposed will be as per the need of the organization. Through making changes in the plan as per the requirement of the organization, the mentee can reach their goals effectively and hence can improve their performance. Thanks for sharing .

The 1931 Davis-Bacon Act contractors and subcontractors must pay their laborers and mechanics employed under the contract no less than the locally prevailing wages and fringe benefits for corresponding work on similar projects in the area. Furthermore, a similar Act, the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act, requires payment to laborers and mechanics for at least one and one-half times their regular pay for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
The 1936 Walsh Healy Public Contract Act establishes minimum wage, maximum hours, and safety and health standards for manufacturing contracts in excess of $15,000. These workers must be paid not less that the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) federal minimum wage and designated overtime pay. This FLSA establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and other employment standards affecting employees in both the public and private sectors. Within the FLSA is the widely known Equal Pay Act (EPA) of 1963, administered and enforced by the U.S. Equal employment Opportunity Commission (2021), to prohibits sex-based wage discrimination for individuals who perform jobs that require substantially equal skill, effort and responsibility.
Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act (CRA) is another major safeguard in compensation protections, by prohibiting employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, 2021). Advancements, promotions, special programs, and other opportunities rely upon fair and nondiscriminatory actions. This CRA was further amended by the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 to protect against compensation discrimination.
Government civilians are common among armed service branches, and are eligible for overtime compensation under the FLSA. However, one example of a related benefit that can be waived is the issued leave days in lieu of overtime pay, since not all departments have extra funds for overtime pay, and many government civilians I have witnessed would prefer to use a gained leave day since overtime pay is heavily taxed.
One example of a financial benefit that I believe should be made into a legally required benefit is that of paid leave for all employees who have a qualifying birth or placement, for as of now, the Federal Employee Paid Leave Act (FEPLA) makes paid parental leave available to only certain categories of government civilian employees (e.g., those who have completed at least 12 months of service or by changing to a qualifying work schedule or appointment).
