SAS No. 99 and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act

Paper details In a 2-3 page informative essay, please address the following:

Discuss the eight-step fraud risk assessment process presented in SAS No. 99 and explain how performing a risk assessment will help to prevent or detect fraud.
What is required by Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act? How could this new requirement prevent or detect fraud?

Write a short story about a moment in your life that you remember well. It can be anything: a car ride where you had an important conversation, a winning sports game, a concert, a first day at a new school, a marriage or birth or death.

Paper details The two authors you read last week had big goals for their short pieces about themselves, and now you can feel out how that is done.
In the Five Hallmarks of essay mentioned in Gerard’s Creative Nonfiction, one of the hallmarks was an apparent subject and the bigger subject, the very first hallmark. This is what I want you to think about as you write your piece: first, pick a moment in your life that stands out to you as important, or a moment that changed a lot for you. Think about writing it in scene, like a movie: who said what? What is their “dialogue?” What is the setting, the place it happens? This is the narrative aspect Gerard mentions: telling a good story in an interesting way.
The fourth hallmark is reflection, by you, the author. This is you thinking about why your story means something to you.
All of this is the work of this week. For a short piece on yourself. This will be practice for using the same methods for your larger papers, which we’ll talk about starting next week. More info on this homework is in the module.
Enjoy this relaxed personal writing about yourself!

This is the 2-page essay, the first assignment mentioned in the syllabus. That’s actually very short!
You’ll be able to tell if it’s two pages, because I require that you submit this in Doc or Docx.
Write a short story about a moment in your life that you remember well. It can be anything: a car ride where you had an important conversation, a winning sports game, a concert, a first day at a new school, a marriage or birth or death.
Keep in mind the Five Hallmarks Philip Gerard mentions in his “Chapter One: What is Creative Nonfiction Anyhow?” in our text Creative Nonfiction. Using those techniques, make your voice lively and entertaining, show setting and dialogue, give us some of your own reflection on the effects of this moment on your life, and try hard to not only tell the story but reflect on the bigger meaning to you.
Submit by Sunday night, and as an assignment, no comments are due to others.
